Be a part of the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Data Center sourcing team. We are combining the elasticity and utility of cloud services with the granular control, security, and predictability of on-premises infrastructure to deliver high-performance, high availability, and cost-effective infrastructure services. As we are building and growing, we are seeking a high-energy individual to step into a Data Center Sourcing Director role to manage the sourcing team.

This role requires a thinker with a strategic vision and tactical prowess. We need you to identify gaps and communicate ideas, solutions, and concerns as well as mitigation plans for future process development, iterations, and the continuous improvement of them. You will be expected to recommend changes and support your positions on those changes using the data you report.

As a Director of the Data Center Sourcing team, you will own the global sourcing demand, for our data center organization and will be integral to us meeting our customer demand needs and tactical business objectives, growing our global colocation footprint with effective negotiation skills. You should have a strong business and data center background, a track record of fixing things, and a bias for action. Experience in the datacenter colocation is needed, along with experience in a fast-paced management environment, making quick decisions to remove blockers or risks to the business and the employees managed.

Candidate must be comfortable working across remote teams and possess the ability to compartmentalize tasks to separate and manage exceptions differently from the normal day-to-day.

Top Five Requirements

Communication & Status – Effective communication is critical, especially when team members must operate independently and still act as a cohesive team unit to external stakeholders. If you don’t want to communicate, this environment/role is not for you. You will be expected to provide consistent, valuable communication across teams and have the ability to drive all related tasks to closure as per process, including on time status reporting to peer stakeholders and executives.

SLA’s & Reporting - Drive SLA’s. This candidate must have the ability to drive team members, internal and external, to meet all SLA’s. He/she must be able to work around/ remove obstacles and understand when escalation is needed to avoid impact to the project deployment/releases and business. This role is also accountable for efficient and effective monthly demand metrics such as ticket counts, consumption trends & resource needs to manage volumes.

Problem solving - Can you see risk and how to avoid it? This role requires someone that can spot issues, prioritize and mitigate in accordance with priorities and risk appetite. You must also know how to ask the tough questions of several different teams & get them to support the common goal. Problems can also have downstream impacts, so this role must be good with awareness of overarching project & timelines, identify and manage dependencies, plan to avoid surprises/risks as much as possible and be able to influence up and down the chain of command.

Organization – Agility is required as direction can frequently change on a dime with little notice and all other deliverables will still be due.

Change & Process - We need a visionary who can see opportunities for improvement and make changes quickly, even at only 70% baked to improve our customers' services. This includes all aspects- writing up new process’s, answering emails and support requests and being able to drive change in accordance with limited resources and compressed timelines effectively with awareness and inclusion across impacted teams.

Responsibilities

Manages teams supporting and/or implementing multi-functional and/or multi-location projects and/or systems. Defines, documents and manages scope, expectations, implementation approach and deliverables.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High-paced prior management experience for 6+ years

  • Expert negotiations

  • Data Center Savvy - colocation and cloud infrastructure

  • Ability to effectively review and translate vendor contracts and agreements

  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people across multiple countries

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills (English) with the ability to organize, analyze, and present data in a format appropriate to the intended audience

  • Experience in working and problem-solving independently, to organize workload and priorities, and complete tasks on time

  • Project and relationship management

  • Be comfortable with ambiguity and have strong critical thinking skills

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated location(s)

California Pay Range: from $134,900 to $270,000 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Colorado Pay Range: from $127,400 to $243,000 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

New York City Pay Range: from $127,400 to $256,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Washington Pay Range: from $142,400 to $256,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience and market conditions, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
