As the Sr. Specialist, Analytics Category Development you play an important role in driving success for our portfolio of Private Brands. This role supports Staples Brands leadership and Category team in understanding and driving the business through data. They are engaged across multiple categories to drive insights to actions, bringing an analytic approach to all projects and assignments.

As a key member of the Category Development team, you will apply your strengths and experience in analytic and conceptual problem solving to help drive category-first Private Brand growth. Private Brands are a driver of differentiation and profitability for Staples and the ability to grow our business in meaningful ways will be visible at the highest levels.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leverage all available data to uncover opportunities for new product development and sales/margin growth.

  • Provide timely insights to Staples Brands Group on category and new product performance.

  • Responsible for the creation and management of weekly new product reporting for Staples.

  • Analyze and interpret consumer and industry trends and maintains competitive research.

  • Support analytical needs of annual category planning process and 3-year strategic planning.

  • Partner with category leads to develop and track success metrics.

  • Continuous learning and development to keep up with market trends and analytical methods.

  • Communicating findings to key stakeholders to influence decision-making.

  • Participating in special projects, providing analytical support as needed.

  • Maintaining data integrity and ensuring compliance with company data governance policies.

What you bring to the table:

  • Strong analytical aptitude and the ability to use data to problem solve

  • Excellent Excel and PowerPoint capabilities

  • Professional communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Initiative, flexible, detail-oriented and a team player.

  • Willingness to work to tight deadlines in high pressured environments without compromising on work quality.

What’s needed- Basic Qualifications:

  • 3 years experience in an analytic role, with a retailer or manufacturer/brand preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
