Job Overview: The Elementary School Adjustment Counselor at Foxborough Regional Charter School plays a pivotal role in fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive social-emotional environment for our diverse student body. This position involves providing counseling services, implementing intervention strategies, and collaborating closely with staff, students, and families from diverse linguistic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds. The counselor will work within our vibrant community to support the well-being and academic success of our students, aligning efforts with the school's commitment to equity, inclusion, and antiracist practices. Responsibilities: Provide individual and group counseling to students to address social, emotional, and behavioral needs, ensuring practices that are culturally responsive and inclusive. Conduct assessments to identify students’ needs and develop tailored interventions that respect their diverse backgrounds. Respond effectively to crisis situations, providing immediate support and long-term strategies in collaboration with staff and families. Maintain open, effective communication and forge strong partnerships with parents/guardians, supporting them in understanding and meeting their children’s educational and emotional needs. Develop and implement programs and strategies that promote positive behavior, mental health, and a supportive school climate. Collaborate with teachers, administration, and other school personnel to create a cohesive support system for all students. Maintain accurate, confidential student records and ensure compliance with all legal and ethical standards. Participate in IEP and 504 meetings, contributing valuable insights and recommendations to support student success. Qualifications: Required: Master’s degree in social work, Counseling, or a related field. Valid Massachusetts Teaching License in School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor (All Levels) or ability to obtain one. Demonstrated competence in the psychology of learning, including learning disorders and their impact on student behavior and achievement. Proficiency in crisis intervention, consultation, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. Strong understanding of federal and state laws related to student services, child welfare, and educational rights. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Authorization to work in the United States as of the first day of employment. Must pass background checks, including CORI Clearance and Fingerprinting. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in an urban school setting or similar diverse environments. Fluency in more than one language to accommodate our multilingual student population.
