Banfield Pet Hospital Technical Project Manager - Software Delivery (Mars Veterinary Health) in Fountain Valley, California

Role Purpose

​Responsible for driving coordinated execution to deliver on MVH strategic and business objectives, and working in partnership with MVH leadership, Project Managers, Product Owners, and development team. Work with business stakeholders, product managers and development partners to create meaningful software delivery plans. Help teams stay on track by holding teams accountable for delivery of quality releases without undue delay.

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.

  • Creating and maintaining information radiators that track progress at multiple levels, including following up with the team to ensure daily updates.

  • Removing impediments to team progress either directly or by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment.

  • Demonstrate strong project management and cross-functional leadership capabilities along with a strong track record of successful execution of projects. The ability to influence, advise and manage large number of cross-functional teams/players across levels is critical.

  • Manage and support the program management, integration and change management.

  • Guide the team(s) to produce quality software on a predictable schedule using Agile/Scrum principles and practices.

  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.

  • Help the team to continually evolve the process, seeking improvements and greater efficiency.

  • Support and educate the Product Manager and Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog.

  • Other job duties as assigned.

Special Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.

  • Project timelines and work volume/deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job.

  • Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.

  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables.

  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.

  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment.

  • The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.

  • Environment where pets are present.

Experience, Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science is preferred, or a combination of education, training and experience to provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • 7-10 years of experience working with software development teams using scrum, agile, and kanban principles is required.

  • 5+ years of experience managing projects is required.

  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams working across multiple time zones (globally) is required.

  • Experience working with large scale, multi-team projects using Scaled Agile (SAFe) processes is required.

  • Proficiency in technical jargon, understanding of code, and knowledge of Azure are required.

  • Ability to understand complex technical concepts and communicate effectively with technical stakeholders is required.

  • Agile SAFe Certification is preferred.

  • Health care background (veterinary or human healthcare, pharmaceutical, etc.) is preferred.

Salary: $130,000 – $195,000
