What You'll Be Doing

The Senior Mechanical Engineer, Technical Engineering provides technical leadership and accountability for MEP system in the delivery of capital and lifecycle projects and engineering services for research and development (R&D) laboratories, clinical manufacturing related facilities, warehouses, and office buildings.

The Senior Engineer (Mechanical) will represent Technical Engineering in multidisciplinary internal/external project teams. This person will collaborate across all functional areas to ensure mechanical systems comply with Good Engineering Practices (GEP) and biopharma standards.

  • Assist in developing and improving mechanical engineering design, execution, & maintenance processes including: GEP development, system turnover process, maintenance process that are based in either condition based or predictive maintenance concepts.

  • Assist with the front-end scoping efforts and drives business case documents as required for the add, move, & change type projects.

  • Support operation and maintenance team to investigate the root cause of any mechanical system failure.

  • Support project manager as mechanical SME for both retrofit and new capital projects such as: attend OAC meeting, review submittals & RFIs, participate in mechanical system startup and commissioning, field verifications to monitor construction progress and resolve issues.

  • Ensures project works comply with OPR, GEPs, codes & standards, and GSI safety policies, and processes.

  • Collaborate closely with other functional teams including project management, Cx & validation, maintenance & operations, and lab end users to assure that projects meet all established guidelines and requirements.

  • Collaborate with maintenance team to develop maintenance processes to ensure high quality & reliable operations, and in compliance with all codes and regulations including: UBC, UFC, NEC codes, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), Good Engineering Practices (GEPs), sustainability guidelines, and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).

This position is expected to be an effective communicator of ideas, project goals and results. With minimal supervision, is expected to make presentations and updates to managements.

Four days per week of on-site presence is expected.

Below is the range that we in good faith believe is the potential compensation for this role at the time of this posting and is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California.  The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Hargrove’s total compensation package for Teammates.  Actual compensation will be based on education, experience, skill set and location.

Minimum Salary: $150,000 annually

Maximum Salary: $200,000 annually

Ideal Background

Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university is required.

Registration: Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred.

Experience: This position requires 10+ years of relevant industrial experience in mechanical engineering.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience and a BS in Mechanical Engineering

  • Ability to effectively work in cross functional teams, meet deadlines, and prioritize multiple projects.

  • Experienced working in a self-driven, performance/results oriented, fast paced matrix environment. Able and willing to be in the field at times with a hands-on approach.

  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings.

  • Should have familiarity to all mechanical infrastructural systems, such as fire sprinkler & fire alarm systems, ASHP & WSHP, cooling towers, chillers, boilers, air handling units, pumps, controls & instrumentations, process equipment such as: air compressors, process vacuum pumps, RODI,

  • process exhaust fans, and hazardous monitoring systems.

  • Some experience with HVAC load calculations, energy modeling, & hydraulic calculations.

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, MS Teams.

  • Effectively communicates with peers and project teams, including engineers, project managers, and

  • subcontractors.

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
