Who will you be working with?

This position will be a member of the Global Operations finance team, strongly supporting the Global Operations -Freight Services team. The operations group this supports manages the plants for manufacturing, remanufacturing and distribution of parts for both new locomotive sales and aftermarket parts and modifications. This team has a strong focus on driving cost out of the product through productivity and UX variance, while performing this with a high level of safety, quality and OTD.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Global Operations finance team, reporting to the Director of Finance, you will support and be a strong strategic partner to the vice president of Global Operations-Services. You will be responsible for ensuring financial controllership of assets and inventory with accurate financial forecasting and integrity for functional expenses, UX variance, costing, inventory, and other balance sheet accounts. This position is also responsible for leading, developing and growing a team that covers 8 remanufacturing sites globally that work on 2 ERP systems. This role may continue to see growth in sites coming into the group that will require stabilization, integration, standardization, simplification, centralization, and policy harmonization.

This role will partner with other financial and operations leaders to solve issues and drive cost optimization, productivity, inventory accuracy, operating plans, and operating reviews. You also lead and champion projects that will help your finance team continue to add value to the company and improve overall financial performance.

What do we want to know about you? Do you have…

  • Strong financial acumen (5+ years of financial experience)

  • 3+ years supporting a manufacturing environment

  • Experience leading a professional team with remote locations (3+ years of management experience)

  • Ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve complex financial issues

  • A self-driven and motivated mindset

  • The ability to learn, adapt, and evolve through continuous growth

  • The drive to advocate for change and not accept status quo to improve business position

  • Financial forecasting experience

  • Knowledge of financial controls, drivers, and levers

  • Ability to analyze and model financial investments and what true impact they will drive for the company

  • Strong controllership mindset and the ability to put KPIs / metrics in place to monitor shifts and detect potential drifts impacting financials

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Established analytical and project management skills / experience

Essential responsibilities…

  • Lead a team of 5 covering 8 remanufacturing sites in North America

  • Lead and support monthly closing and reporting activities

  • Assist with ongoing integration efforts to convert sites from P&L to Supply Chain methodology

  • Analyze actuals and provide pacing estimates

  • Own planning details preparation and submission for all planning cycles

  • Partner with business leader and staff to drive operating performance & act as champion for SG&A related strategic initiatives within the organization

  • Lead projects to digitize analytics, and improve reporting capabilities

  • Lead preparation for reviews of month-end and quarter-end actuals with business leader and staff.

  • Lead ad hoc analyses and requests from various stakeholders

  • Complete internal and external audit requirements

  • Support Buy and Make standard cost setting for US, Canada and Mexico

  • AP ownership including but not limited to approving payment batches, troubleshooting pay errors, supplier setup approvals and review of AP aging

  • Review and approve monthly / quarterly account reconciliations

  • Complete and/or provide reports to support corporate tax team

  • Capital investment review

  • Review and approve monthly journal entries prepared by team

  • Review Quarterly roll forwards

  • Review of quarterly flux package
