Farmer Brothers Finance Manager in Fort Worth, Texas

The Manager, Finance is responsible for leading the preparation of and reviewing a variety of complex financial data and assists in maintaining and updating company financial models and forecasts. Analyzes financial and business trend data for use in the development of strategic business planning, annual budgeting, periodic forecasting, new and existing customer contribution and branch profitability analysis. This position is the financial business partner for the Direct Store Delivery (DSD) organization and is responsible for all aspects of their financial operations.

Essential Functions

  • Participate as a thought leader of the FP&A team, influencing decision making, identifying finance priorities, managing directly and indirectly - finance staff in our Corporate Office

  • Provide strategic business partner support to many levels of the organization, prioritizing efforts to influence performance.

  • Lead the preparation of monthly profit and loss statements, profitability reports and other pertinent data/information. Provide detailed analysis of results vs. plan and prior year performance, and lead discussions on opportunities to close operating profit gaps. Assist Senior Management with special projects ranging from, but not limited to, "what if" strategic analysis, business forecasting, new customer / product / branch P&L projections, etc.

  • Lead the annual budgeting process for Direct Store Delivery business units. Drive business partners to meet expected company targets and investment returns. Partner with department heads to develop annual operating budgets and periodic expense projections, and capital projects.

  • Develop and implement new techniques for financial analysis and forecasting to resolve a wide range of difficult problems with resourceful and practical approaches.

  • Collaborate with sales organization to improve customer profitability through financial modeling, capital expenditure evaluations, and audits. Provide guidance and solutions to improve gross and contribution margin and mitigate risk to company return on investment.

  • Analyze headcount and other financial metric reports to ensure annual operating plan assumptions are delivered.

  • Identify and implement process improvement to create efficiencies, streamline projects and to support financial and organizational initiatives.

  • Develop and deliver concise, compelling reports and presentation of findings to DSD operations & finance teams.

  • Create ad-hoc reports and analysis based on requests from Sr. Management and Senior Director of Finance.

  • May perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Account or Finance required

  • Minimum five years progressive experience in the finance function required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows and associated Microsoft Office applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.

  • Experience with BI platforms, such as Power BI or Tableau, preferred

  • Ability to analyze, interpret and present financial and non-financial data in meaningful management reports, including recommendations.

  • Able to work effectively with cross-functional business teams composed of people with diverse backgrounds, some of whom are non-technical.

  • Ability to simplify complex ideas and communicates them concisely to a variety of audiences.

  • Ability and passion to train and develop financial analysts, both direct reports and broader finance team members.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
