Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse delivers professional nursing care to population-specific patients on the Medical Surgical Units to include, Medical, Surgical, Telemetry, Orthopedics, Neurology and Oncology Units. The RN will follow the Board of Nursing’s (BON) Standards of Nursing Practice utilizing the nursing process in care delivery and maintains accountability for professional decisions and actions within the parameters of their legal scope of practice and in accordance with the federal, state, and local laws; rules and regulations; and policies, procedures and guidelines of Medical City Healthcare (MCH).

As part of our Division Float Pool East POD team, you will be lending your knowledge and experience to Medical Surgical departments within Medical City hospitals. You are required to be able to work at each of the following facilities for a 12 - week assignment, depending on facility needs. Those facilities are: MC Dallas, MC Heart & Spine, MC Denton, MC Frisco, MC Las Colinas, MC Lewisville, MC McKinney, MC Plano, and MC Sachse.

What You Will Do In This Role:

  • Responsible for delivery of professional nursing care for assigned patients, performs nursing assessments/ care plan/ implementation of treatment/ evaluation of treatment/ and discharge planning.

  • Administers treatments/medications/procedures within scope of practice.

  • Coordinates care with interdisciplinary team members and ancillary services.

  • Responsible for delegation within scope of practice to provide safe and effective care to patient population.

  • Integrates behavior standards and AIDET fundamentals of service into all work activities.

  • Authorized to access secure drug and biological storage areas when completing a medication management orientation and when necessary to perform assigned duties.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Associate's Degree required, BSN preferred at time of hire. Must obtain BSN within 20 months of hire

  • Minimum 18 months experience within an acute care hospital required with a minimum of 1 year in specialty area

  • Current State of TX RN license required, compact license is accepted

  • BLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support required at time of hire and issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross

  • Certification in area of specialty preferred

  • Professional Nursing Organization Membership strongly encouraged
