Lockheed Martin Aircraft Mechanic A in Fort Worth, Texas

Description: Aircraft Mechanic A provides effort to execute planned activities concerning operational checkout of aircraft systems, surfaces and structures in a static condition. Follows the optimal production sequence as outlined by the Mechanical Engineers and Industrial Engineers. Reports deviations and non-conformance in process or product.

Will set up systems for operational checkout through a series of configurations by determining if system is ready for operations, making necessary power hookup, installing required testing and equipment and assuring compliance with safety requirements. Recognizes operational malfunctioning and localizes and diagnoses its source. Directs and/or makes required adjustments to bring the operations within specifications. Will determine, plan and perform the major rework or repair required to make the system operative. Applies a complete working knowledge of all components relating to the hydraulic, pneumatic, structural and electrical work/checkouts. Will be responsible for area completeness, interior and/or exterior, and final close up including the installation of exterior panels prior to delivery of aircraft to flight line. To use shop mathematics involving layout of coordinated dimensions. To use trigonometry to solve right triangles for unknowns when the given parts are shown in the same planes.

Standing/Sitting: Requires full time standing with limited resting periods and to walk distances. Sit for extended periods if required.

Heights: Able to work at heights. Able to climb stairs or ladders as required. Able to work off of step stools, scissor lifts, lift platforms and aircraft structure without handrails.

Overhead work: Able to work overhead as required.

Weight restriction: Able to Lift/push/pull/carry a minimum of 25 lbs

Body positioning: Able to twist/bend (neck or waist) and stoop. Able to work in awkward positions as required. Able to squat/kneel/crawl/reach as required.

Work content: Able to use/hold/manipulate small tools and parts with hands. Simple grasping, power grasping and fine manipulation is required. Able to use vibrating tools and perform torqueing operations. Able to use power moving equipment and power moving equipment. Repetitive tasks will be performed.

Vision/Hearing: High level Hand/Eye coordination required. Corrective lenses may be used. Eye protection required in many instances. Color differentiation may be required. Must be able to hear at level required for positions.

Environmental: Able to work around noise, chemicals, fumes and dust. Capable of using respirators and other personal protective equipment including hearing protection if required. Able to work outside if needed.

Attendance: Regular attendance required based on set work schedule. Able to work any shift.

Vehicles/Power moving equipment: Able to operate equipment or machinery as required. Able to work around heavy equipment and machinery.

Basic Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience of aircraft operating procedures, under power-on, hydraulics, or tethered utility feed system in order to perform system checkouts and troubleshooting.

Experience in structural rework, repair, modification and the forming characteristics of various metal.

Ability to use mechanics' hand tools effectively.

Demonstrates an advanced knowledge of assembly theory, practice, and procedure and removal and repair techniques.

Desired Skills:

Military aircraft assembly, maintenance and/or modification experience preferred. Will consider commercial experience.

Ability to obtain a security clearance.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: Standard Monday to Friday 40 hour work week
