[Job Title: Lead Lab Technician (31002) *[Join Purdue University Fort Wayne: [We are currently seeking a full-time on-site Lead Lab Tech in our Department of Biological Sciences[. - Prepare materials for teaching labs which use techniques in microbiology, cell biology, molecular biology, and genetics.
- Maintain the department's stock of microbiological cultures.
- Prep labs, including preparing all classroom culture media and supplies.
- Tear down laboratory classroom materials and disposes of used materials.
- Assist graduate teaching assistants and faculty inside and outside of the laboratory classroom.
- Serves as the departments Designated Trained Individual (DTI) in handling safety issues in teaching and research labs.
- Assist with the disposal of chemical wastes.
- Assist the Manager of Life Sciences Support Services with departmental tasks as deemed necessary.

- A Bachelors degree in Biology, Microbiology, or Chemistry.
- At least 3 years of experience in laboratory protocols.
- Experience culturing cells, tissues, and organisms; including media preparation.
- Experience with student instruction and supervision.
- Experience with disposal of biological and chemical wastes.
- Capacity to conduct long term culturing of stock cultures.
- The ability to learn, know, adhere to, and monitor government and university safety regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
