Motrex LLC Quality Coordinator in Fort Smith, Arkansas

Overview

This is considered a "Supervisor in Training" position who is responsible for supporting quality management system, quality improvement projects, key customer activities, supplier improvement, and continuous improvement projects. Works cross functionally to standardize the quality management system through day-to-day quality and continuous improvements activities for the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Supports changes and improvements to quality management system including development of new procedures and work instructions.

  • Supports document control system including publication and distribution of new documents.

  • Maintains quality auditing tools based on engineering specifications, engineering changes, or deviations

  • Supports the preparation for external audits, as needed, 3rd party and customer.

  • Supports the maintenance of SPC software for monitoring, controlling, and reducing product and process variation.

  • Coordinates and conducts internal audits for quality systems, products, and processes.

  • Supports and coordinates corrective action requests (CARs) to suppliers, including follow-up and closure.

  • Works with other plants and corporate contacts to improve the shared, regional quality system elements.

  • Assists manufacturing shop-floor with corrective action resolution for internal key performance indicators, KPIs, and external customer issues, including warranty.

  • Works with manufacturing shop-floor and other departments on problem-solving initiatives and link actions and outcomes to Control Plans, PFMEAs, plant inspection points, and customer returns.

  • Use EH&S controls, such as JSA, work and management practices, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect and safeguard all people.

  • Use EH&S controls, along with work and management practices, to safeguard all people, equipment and the environment from environmental hazards.

  • Participate in incident investigations and track corrective actions taken in Intelex.

  • Complete or assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning and execution.

  • Regular attendance and timeliness is required in order to give sufficient support to the plant-wide team.

  • Other tasks may be required on an as needed basis.

  • While performing the duties of this job the individual is occasionally required to vary their schedules times and shifts.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to do this job.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Three to five years experience working in the manufacturing industry, preferably in battery manufacturing.

Preferred

  • High school diploma

  • Minimum of a two year technical degree in science, engineering, or quality.

  • Experience working in a union manufacturing plant is a plus.

  • Two years experience working in a quality or continuous improvement position.

  • Six Sigma or Lean training and/or certification.

  • Knowledge and experience of problem-solving and quality improvement methodologies.

  • JDE Edwards experience.

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

Required:

  • Mathematical and analytical skills.

  • Must be able to work independently.

  • Outstanding organization/administrative and time management skills.

  • Ability to work on multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft and Google Suite applications.

  • Knowledge of Industrial Batteries and Chargers a plus.

  • Critical thinking and good troubleshooting technique.

  • High energy, self-motivated, ability to be successful without direct supervision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, individual is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.

  • Individual is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Ability to occasionally lift a minimum 50 lbs., regularly lift a minimum 25 lbs. on a daily basis and 51 to 150 lbs. with assistance of equipment on a daily to weekly basis.

  • Regular use of safety glasses and steel toed shoes.

  • Limited to regular use of respirator depending on department assignment.

  • Vision requirements; close vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, individual is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles

  • Individual occasionally exposed to precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.

  • Noise level is minimal to loud.

  • Regularly is working in a dirty lead contaminated area and must wear a uniform and safety shoes in that area to prevent the tracking and / or possible lead contamination of other clean areas or outside or the regulated areas.
