Responsibilities Provide and obtain a variety of management services essential to the direction and operation of the 8th Theater Sustainment Command (8TSC) G3. Serve as Deputy Chief and Executive Officer to the O-6 level Assistant Chief of Staff (ACofS), G3. Act with full authority both in conjunction with and in the absence of the ACofS, G3 and within own areas of responsibility. Perform responsibilities to ensure all program and policy matters pertaining to Army/Joint Operational-level sustainment within the USINDOPACOM AOR are implemented and that organizational objectives are achieved. Represent and reports to the ACofS, G3, 8TSC Chief of Staff (CofS), and 8TSC Commanding General (CG) at meetings and speaks with full authority in the ACofS, G3’s absence. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing and conducting studies or analysis on military programs, operations and forces; identifying resources and requirements (i.e., manning, equipment, training, etc.) necessary to conduct and sustain military operations and readiness; AND/OR coordinating and developing strategic plans for military commands, units and forces. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Compliance Organizational Performance Analysis Planning and Evaluating Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Because of the essential nature of these positions, the Secretary of the Army, or his/her designee, shall designate such positions as Key positions and shall require that they not be filled by Ready Reservists or military retirees with recall obligations. Prior to occupying the position, Civilians must be exempted from recall to active duty because of Reserve or retired military obligations.
