Position Overview
As a Field Engineer at Kiewit, you will play a significant role in planning, organizing, and implementing project engineering & project control tasks. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
District Overview
Kiewit's Southeast District is one of Kiewit's leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. Projects you could be working on could include building bridges, airports, mass transit systems, canals, dams, pump stations or tunnels. Although most of our work is regionally based in the southeast region of the United States, we also pursue various projects stretching across the east coast. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry instead of design.

Responsibilities
Field Engineering:
• Assist in interpreting drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision
• Conduct quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining the percentage of completed/installed materials and work
• Contribute to the preparation of work plans and work packages
• Support field surveying and work layout including elevation, control points, and as-built data compilation
• Manage daily labor timesheets and assist in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) preparation
• Participate in safety reviews, toolbox meetings, safety training, and material deliveries coordination
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite and supervise field operations
Office Engineering:
• Perform material takeoffs, basic engineering calculations, and technical drafting to support field operations
• Aid Engineers in data preparation for submittal to stakeholders
• Assist in preparation of purchase orders, subcontracts, and schedule maintenance
• Support project recordkeeping, cost reports review, change orders generation, and field subcontractor operations supervision
Estimating:
• Review historical data, assess risk areas, and prepare bid incorporating productions and costs
• Complete plan and specification review, material takeoffs, and bid document assessments
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in Infrastructure/Heavy Civil construction preferred
• Interest in heavy civil/transportation construction projects
• Commitment to the construction industry with a focus on hands-on construction work
• Knowledge and passion for construction safety, OSHA certification preferred
• Ability to access all construction sites in various climates and terrains
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Strong organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Keen attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies
• Strong work ethic and willingness to work more than 40 hours/week
• Proficiency with computers and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
