Actalent Field Inspector in Fort Pierce, Florida

Job Description:

Our client is actively seeking a Field Inspector. This person will play a key role in supporting a wide range of civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, and water resources-related projects. The work they do will impact ecosystems, watersheds, and communities for their clients.

The initial assignment will be supporting a Construction Management Services contract for the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan. The initial project will last 3 years and consists of the construction of a large reservoir and stormwater treatment area. Scope of work includes clearing/grabbing, tree removal, the demo of agricultural irrigation equipment, the demo of wells, perimeter road construction, temporary utilities, temporary bridge, restoration of all ground surfaces (levee roads, canal banks, berms, staging areas, etc.), and other earthworks.

This person will support the Chief Inspector in acting as the liaison between the contractor, the SFWMD, and the engineer of record. They will ensure the contractor is conducting work following the permits obtained and the engineering specifications, by performing quality control inspections.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform field and on-site laboratory tests on soil, geosynthetics, aggregates, and other materials primarily associated with civil construction;

  • Observe, inspect, monitor, and document construction activities to assure compliance with relevant contract documents (e.g., technical specifications, construction drawings, sampling plans, CQA plans etc.);

  • Provide CQA monitoring on several types of construction activities;

  • Prepare daily and weekly field reports, testing schedules, meeting minutes & progress reports;

  • Assure project documentation is completed timely, accurately, and consistently with company policy & procedures;

  • Interact with project personnel (contractors, project managers, engineers & clients) and assist in cultivating an integrated team approach through open lines of communication and participation in work progress meetings;

  • Assist in the preparation of the filed reports, work plans, health and safety documents, and the assembly of report appendices; and

  • Observe and abide by the policies and procedures outlined in the site-specific project health and safety plans and the company’s Health and Safety Management policies and procedures.
