Description

This is a Project Manager position with Facilities Construction and Management. This position is primarily responsible for the management of Major Maintenance (MM) and Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects as assigned by the Supervisor. The Project Manager is responsible for the on-time and on-budget delivery of his/her assigned projects, project leadership from the conceptual phase through final acceptance of construction, and the supervision and evaluation of staff who assist on his/her projects. The position entails a wide degree of creativity and latitude in technical matters. Incumbent may exercise considerable independent decision making. Coordination of projects with local and state agencies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage projects through development of scope of work, consultant selection, review of design and construction plans, permitting and final construction completion.

  • Leads consultant selection process in coordination with the Procurement Department.

  • Review bids and qualifications.

  • Interview shortlist vendors for final selection.

  • Negotiates scope and fee for professional services related to assigned projects.

  • Performs detailed technical research and seeks practical solutions to solve project problems.

  • Coordinates with County Departments or any other stakeholders in fulfillment of assigned projects.

  • Liaison with local municipalities and third party stakeholders on topics relevant to assigned projects.

  • Review pay applications of consultants and contractors.

  • Site visits during design, permitting and construction stages to ensure successful completion of project.

  • Display excellent customer service skills while interacting with the public.

Education, Experience, Licensing

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing or Structural Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, or a closely related field, and two (2) years of experience.

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record is required.

  • Will be required to pass an NCIC background check and must be able to obtain a Fingerprint-based security clearance from the Lee County Sheriff's Office and State Attorney's Office.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional license and a degree in any of the indicated fields: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design or a closely related field.

Supplemental Information

  • Knowledgeable with FBC (Florida Building Code), Life Safety, and ADA rules and regulations.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form.

  • Demonstrate skills in project management related to building remodeling and construction is highly recommended.

  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices related to engineering, architectural, capital improvement projects, and construction management.

  • Ability to prepare, review, and interpret contract documents, plans, and specifications.

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office products is recommended.

  • The work days and hours are Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
