OHLA USA Asphalt Plant Laborer in Fort Myers, Florida

Our company has an immediate opening forAsphalt Plant LaborerinFort Myers, Fl. As anAsphalt Plant Laborer, onewill perform a wide range of general duties at an asphalt plant including but not limited to: shoveling, moving materials and working at heights while maintaining good housekeeping and adhering to all safety regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Communicates with Dispatchers and Drivers. Controls inventory of materials (i.e. oil, fuel, lime, etc.).
  • Assists in plant production of materials and ensures for the efficient working condition of the plant.
  • Stockpiles materials and feeds hot plant from the stockpiles in an efficient and productive manner.
  • Ensures that all assigned equipment is properly maintained, clean, in safe working order and operated properly.
  • Prepares plant for operations at the beginning of the season, and performs shut down procedures at the end of the season.
  • Operates front end loader and other heavy equipment as needed.
  • Performs plant maintenance and repairs, including welding tasks.
  • Performs set up and take down of traveling plants at different job site locations as required.
  • Uses various equipment, hand and power tools.
  • Performs job site clean-up.
  • Maintains all tools and equipment in a safe and clean condition.
  • Other duties as assigned per supervisor.
  • SHIFT: Must be flexible - 6:00 AM- 4:00 PMand/or5:00 PM- 4:00AM

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Basic Math.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.
  • Standard Florida Drivers License.
  • Will be subject to drug andphysical test and background check.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree GED is preferred.
  • Previous related experience in the construction field is a plus.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move anywhere up to 50-75 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
