Custom Control Panel Builder

Fort Mill, SC

Overview:

Join our team as a Custom Control Panel Builder, where you will play a vital role in assembling and wiring electrical control panels for water and wastewater treatment facilities. You will work with various systems, including Variable Frequency Drives, Soft Starts, and custom panels using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) or relay logic. This position is key to ensuring that manufacturing processes and procedures are meticulously followed and documented.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Electrical Schematics: Read and interpret electrical schematics, demonstrating a solid understanding of schematic symbols, panel components, and general wiring practices.

  • Wiring and Cabling: Ensure proper sizing of power cabling in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) while assembling components to back pans and enclosures.

  • Tool Proficiency: Operate hand and power tools, including drills, jigsaws, knockout punches, and electric/hydraulic crimpers with precision and safety.

  • Assembly and Labeling: Utilize computer skills to print wire and component labels, ensuring correct component layout per NEC and AID standards.

  • Quality Control: Conduct thorough electrical testing of completed panels to verify functionality, identifying and correcting any wiring errors.

  • Attention to Detail: Maintain a high level of precision required for correct wire connections and component placement.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of electrical theory, including voltage, current, power, and circuit design.

  • Proficiency in reading a tape measure and using standard hand and power tools.

  • Completion of an electrician apprenticeship program or equivalent electrical training is preferred.

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in industrial control panel building is highly desirable.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to practicing good and safe housekeeping.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work in an industrial environment that involves manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs. and standing for extended periods.

  • Compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements is mandatory.

  • Prior knowledge of UL and NEC standards, with experience in a UL 508A/UL 698A manufacturing facility is a plus.

  • Demonstrated safety leadership in previous roles.

  • Experience in a 5S manufacturing environment is beneficial.
