U.S. Coast Guard Budget Analyst in Fort Meade, Maryland
Summary This vacancy is for a GS-0560-13, Budget Analyst located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, OPERATING LOCATION-CG-2 CRYPTO OFFICE-NATL SEC AGENCY-FORT MEADE MD. Responsibilities You will serve as an Budget Analyst and be responsible for authoritative advice on all aspects of budget analysis and financial management. He/ she manages a large portion of the collective efforts to acquire, maintain, and upgrade equipment and programs specified by the CGCG Commander and the Assistant Commandant for Intelligence and Criminal Investigations (CG-2). Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Planning, utilizing, prioritizing, and allocating multi-mission resources, to implement strategic direction, and support dynamic operations Evaluating policy, instructions and legislative directives affecting the CGCG's financial resources. Ensuring adjustments are made in a timely manner through process change and develops and revise standard operating procedures for the CGCG, subordinate units, and detached duty elements. Establishing and direct budget management program to include short and long-term program goals. Recommend specific solutions to real and potential financial challenges as strategic, operation, and tactical priorities. Qualifications To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience must include the following: Developing and overseeing the implementation and execution of contracts with industry to ensure monies are properly expended. Identifying issues, discrepancies and solve a wide variety of complex budgetary problems. Evaluating agency strategic objectives, capability requirements and human resource cost as they relate to organizational programs. Analyzing statistical financial and operational data as well as contributing financial and budgetary information to special studies and reports. Applying accounting concepts to solve problems, render advice and meet the needs of the organization. NOTE: Education can not be substituted for experience at this grade level.
