U.S. Army Forces Command Operations Specialist (Watch Officer) in Fort Liberty, North Carolina

Summary About the Position: Incumbent is the Forces Command (FORSCOM) Operational Specialist (Watch Officer and Situation Reports Specialist (SITREP). Functions as the subject matter expert on all aspects of Watch Operations and SITREP Information Management. This is a permanent position. Responsibilities Execute established FORSCOM mission requirements and procedures for Crisis Action System (CAS) and the Joint Operations Planning and Execution System (JOPES). Monitor FORSCOM Joint Operations Planning and Execution System (JOPES) deployment/redeployment missions. Conduct situational analysis of FORSCOM DCSOPS military operations mission requirements and resources and makes recommendations to commit G-3/5/7 division resources. Serve as Watch Officer, Forces Command Watch Team to work closely with military officers and NCOs who augment the Watch Team. Coordinate and monitors units, equipment, and personnel supporting Defense Support. Maintain knowledge of the command’s force structure, contingency planning, force stationing, and operational readiness levels of subordinate commands. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in analyzing incoming operational and/or emergency information to initiate appropriate command actions in crisis, operating in a 24/7 environment to ensure continuous service and efficiency, coordinating personnel and/or equipment to ensure effective operations, OR reviewing mission operations to make recommendations for analysis. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and Management Information Management Teamwork Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
