POSITION: Staff Accountant

REQUIREMENTS:

SUMMARY:

Assist the Corporate Controller in directing the financial activities of the hotel, safeguarding assets, and preparing all financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and hotel standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Have working knowledge of general ledger transactions and the complete accounting cycle.

• Prepare parking report and reconcile cash parking deposits.

• Assist with cashier bank audits on a monthly basis.

• Sort and verify accuracy of Night Audit work.

• Post daily income journal to general ledger.

• Perform daily reconciliation of cash transactions.

• Consolidate, reconcile, and provide accountability for food and beverage revenue and costs.

• Verify quantities and costs of food and beverages purchased and sold from point of sale (POS) records and inventory systems.

• Assist with ongoing evaluations to identify common causes of product waste and inventory management inefficiencies.

• Prepare month-end cost reports, including reconciliation of all stock rooms.

• Assist in the physical inventory process, including monthly food and beverage counts, ensuring profitability.

• Support all other Finance areas, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and loss prevention as it relates to the management of cost of goods and other expense line items.

• Reconcile certain general ledger accounts.

• Upload data in OnTrack® software and run reports.

• Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.

• May be required to work weekends and holidays.

• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred.

• Accounting and hotel experience preferred.

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software, especially Excel.

• Basic knowledge of one or more accounting software, preferably Sage.

• Basic knowledge of one or more procurement and inventory software systems, preferably BirchStreet®.

• Basic knowledge of one or more POS systems, preferably Agilysys.

• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

• Ability to compile facts.

• Ability to operate a personal computer and calculator.

• Command of the English language, both written and verbal.

EQUIPMENT USED:

• Copier, fax machine, computer, calculator, shredder, telephone, tape dispenser, stapler, stapler remover, ink stampers, printers, hole punch, letter opener, ruler, pens/pencils/markers.

  Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• Proven experience as a Staff Accountant

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Familiarity with Bank Reconciliations and General Ledger

• Proficiency in Journal Entries and Month End Close

• Experience with NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP

• Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure

• Knowledge of current financial regulations and accounting standards

• High level of professionalism and integrity

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
