Zimmerman Advertising Sr. Media Buyer in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Overall Objective

Coordinate media buying efforts of accounts including research, planning, buying and posting all facets of market/accounts on a local and national level.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate, implement, and steward the media buys with broadcast television/cable and radio media for accounts within an assigned group of markets.

  • Proficient in buying all broadcast mediums including top 10 markets.

  • Negotiate best pricing and ratings/impression estimates.

  • Obtain pre and post log times to ensure buys are running correctly.

  • Monitor buys in progress, manage the day-to-day media schedules, arranges for makegoods and credits.

  • Maintain strong relationships with local Account Executives and Managers

  • Keeps up with industry news, methodology and metric changes and market trends and innovations.

  • Negotiates added value.

  • Evaluates sponsorships and sports packages

  • Executes all Media plans while adhering to established budgets, goals and timelines.

  • Clearly and accurately communicates orders and changes to media vendors.

  • Responsible for the post-buy results of all buys and receipt of underdelivery.

  • Collaborates with accounting and media team members and media planners to resolve media billing issues.

  • Maintaining station relationships

  • Spend time with senior members of buying team, learning and growing skills such as presenting strategic media buys to clients

  • To stay current with buying tools and resources.

  • Delegate appropriate workload to Media Assistant through Media Supervisor approval

  • Help train junior staff members

    Requirements

  • 5+ years previous experience as a media buyer or assistant media buyer

  • Ability to buy top 10 markets and/or complex buying assignments

  • Proficient in research such as Qualitative, Quantitative, Trends, Hour-By-Hour day part planning, Zip code analysis

  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to plan/negotiate strategic media recommendations

  • Marketplace expertise. (market conditions, strength of stations, season of viewership patterns, methodology changes)

  • Proficient in media tracking and accountability tools

  • Proficient use on Agency buying software (Freewheel/Medio Ocean) and other buying resources a plus (SQAD, Comscore, Nielsen)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with well-developed telephone skills: outgoing and comfortable relating to people.

  • Self-motivated, a desire for challenge and ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Good computer skills, and proficient in Microsoft 365 and Teams

  • Possess/portray a strong positive, professional attitude at all times and work effectively in a team environment

  • Highly dependable, organized and detail-oriented, great focus

  • Skilled in prioritizing and adapting to new projects throughout the day with ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work in an environment of fast-paced change while maintaining focus

  • Excellent at meeting deadlines with the ability to work well under pressure
