Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs Irrigation Operations and Maintenance Specialist in Fort Duchesne, Utah

Summary This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Superintendent, Uintah and Ouray Agency in Fort Duchesne, Utah. Responsibilities Provide guidance, support, and oversight for the protection of government interests on all service and construction contracts; scheduling; inspection of routine; emergency repair; maintenance performed to irrigation project infrastructure. Create work orders and encode maintenance and related data into approved Computerized Maintenance Management System (e.g., MAXIMO™) Collect, compile, and summarize data for job orders, vehicle reports, fuel usage, water diversions and deliveries, etc. Provide technical oversight in regulatory compliance and resolving complex actions relating to safety and environmental issues. Identify and prioritize construction and maintenance needs on the irrigation storage, transmission, and delivery systems. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications The following shows the amounts of education and/or experience required to qualify for positions. GS-9: 1 year specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-07 level OR master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Specialized Experience: Work experience that provided practical knowledge of crafts such as earthwork, concrete work, metal fabrication, welding, etc., in order to provide technical guidance and oversight to an irrigation operation and maintenance company. Also experience with irrigation systems and their operations and included various types of irrigation methods and equipment, structures, measuring devices, flow meters, etc. and open channel hydraulics and pressure systems in order to identify and prioritize construction and maintenance needs on the irrigation storage, transmission and delivery systems and to schedule and coordinate individual projects. Additionally, experience that demonstrated utilization of computers and irrigation system & maintenance computer software e.g. National Irrigation Information Management System (NIIMS), MAXIMO? (maintenance management system), spreadsheets, word processing, etc. to prepare reports, provide technical oversight and program administration.
