Role Summary

As a Senior Global Buyer Planner, you will play a key role in developing, initiating, and managing the procurement and planning processes to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of finished goods and raw materials to support our global operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, build strong relationships with suppliers, and optimize inventory levels to meet customer demand and achieve business objectives. This is a hybrid position located in Fort Collins, CO at the Waterpik office.

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage data integrity/parameters in company MRP software, ePortal and Oracle system.

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to support global sourcing initiatives and meet organizational goals. Challenge existing systems and offer meaningful alternatives.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, sales operations, and operations, to develop accurate demand forecasts. Question unusual forecast changes to ensure system accuracy.

  • Monitor and track demand fluctuations, adjusting capacity requirements accordingly to meet customer requirements and minimize excess inventory.

  • Develop, monitor, and adjust inventory strategies to optimize inventory levels across global locations. Manage shortages/backorders and expedite product as needed. Manage part number changes/transitions to minimize excess inventory, while maintaining customer service levels.

  • Monitor and analyze inventory levels, expirations, and turnover rates to reduce scrap risk; identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions. Provide feedback to finance for scrap reserves.

  • Implement inventory control mechanisms, such safety stock levels, and lead time management, to ensure efficient supply chain operations.

  • Manage daily communication with suppliers. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, fostering open communication and collaboration. Conduct monthly supplier on-time delivery evaluations, addressing any issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Monitor daily fulfillment report, event report, weekly AIMs, and planner reports, taking appropriate actions as necessary.

  • Support New Product Development (NPD) as needed.

  • Manage Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) inventory, as assigned.

  • Create and close work orders for in-house production lines.

  • Manage product end-of-life with sales operations team to ensure lowest possible scrap cost to the company.

  • Approximately a 30/70 split between strategic thinking and tactical execution, with 30% of time being long-term planning and 70% of time achieving short-term goals.

Operating Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • A high level of attention to detail is essential to manage complex procurement processes and analyze data accurately.

  • Strong self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills to effectively engage with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams. The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers is crucial.

  • The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize work effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to analyze complex data, identify trends and patterns, make data-driven decisions, and implement them. Desire and ability to achieve results despite obstacles. Be willing to investigate all problems/opportunities in depth.

  • A strategic mindset to develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals and market trends. The ability to anticipate potential risks and proactively identify opportunities for process improvement is important.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to navigate through changing market conditions, supplier dynamics, and customer demands. The ability to quickly adjust procurement plans and strategies is fundamental.

Education and Experience

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, or a related field or High School Diploma/equivalent plus relevant work experience acceptable.

  • Total 10 years minimum combined experience in two or more of the following areas: operations, purchasing, planning, inventory management, logistics, quality, or manufacturing.

  • Proficiency in using MRP (Material Requirement Planning) systems. Advanced Excel functions and data analytics experience is highly desirable.

  • Proven experience as a Buyer Planner or in a similar procurement role, preferably in a global organization.

  • Knowledge and experience utilizing capacity planning.

  • Experience planning multiple manufacturing lines across multiple locations.

  • New product development process (NPD) understanding.

  • Off-shore/Asia manufacturing/planning experience. Understand how Chinese New Year affects the production plan and methods to plan extended production shutdowns.

Desired Training

None required, CPSM or APICS CPIM or CSCP certification is desirable.

Salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Estimated pay: $88,000 - $137,500 Annual Salary
