Description of Work Unit

This work unit exists to maintain responsibility for the overall leadership and administration of the University in fulfilling its overarching mission and aims. It serves as a “window to the University,” providing friendly and knowledgeable access to institutional resources and services for the University’s many constituencies. In addition, the work unit develops and nurtures relations with governmental and community entities to support higher education, enhance the University’s image and secure an adequate resource base for the institution. As an arm of the President’s Office, the Colorado State University Spur Campus will:

  • Enhance the visibility, reach, and scale of CSU Research and programming

  • Improve access to and by metropolitan audiences, for mutual benefit

  • Support and grow the food and agriculture economy, locally and globally

  • Establish a hub to strengthen synergistic food systems networks across Colorado

Position Summary

The CSU Spur campus in Denver provides a unique opportunity to elevate the educational access mission of Colorado State University for individuals who might not otherwise see a post-secondary degree as attainable.

The CSU Spur Start first-year undergraduate pilot program at the Spur Campus (to launch in Summer 2025) will serve as a learning opportunity and proof of concept toward the broader long-term objective of developing a truly differentiated educational portfolio and student experience that delivers compelling value to a diverse community of learners in the Metro Denver area and beyond. The Spur Start program delivers a slate of CSU undergraduate courses suitable for freshman at CSU Spur, providing Denver metro students the opportunity to complete their first year at Spur before moving to Fort Collins in year two. The Spur Start program emphasizes maximal flexibility for students, providing a foundation suitable for most majors.

This part-time Project Manager position will work with Spur Start leadership to support the successful implementation, assessment, refinement, and growth of this program by convening, motivating and coordinating the appropriate expertise, institutional owners and resources.

Scope of the role may extend with time and performance to include development and implementation of other higher educational programming in support of efforts to build a broader portfolio of offerings for diverse learners.

This job may be located at the CSU main campus in Fort Collins (ideal) or at CSU Spur in Denver. Occasional travel between CSU’s Fort Collins and Spur campuses will be necessary to achieve program objectives. This position will report to Associate Vice President for Spur Strategy.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Completed B.A./B.S. degree plus minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in project or program management

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and execute complex projects involving many diverse stakeholders on time and on budget

  • Evidence of strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a computerized environment with programs such as Microsoft Office Suite and cloud-based collaboration platforms

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the position start date

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Advanced degree(s) a plus

  • Previous professional experience in higher education, ideally at Colorado State University, and/or pre-collegiate programs at the high school level

  • Professional commitment to expanding student access and work with diverse student audiences, documented success in this area preferred

  • Track record of innovation resulting in project/program growth in a resource-restricted environment

  • Experience in program evaluation/improvement

  • Develop and execute a project development and implementation schedule to support the Summer 2025 launch of the Spur Start pilot

  • Develop relationships and communicate with internal and external program contributors including executive leadership, department chairs, university faculty and staff, and pre-collegiate community partners

  • Schedule, participate in, and manage team meetings, track progress on goals/deliverables and action items

  • Track and assess progress toward project goals and objectives, prepare and provide project updates and reports to project partners and university leadership

  • Collaborate with Spur Start leadership, department chairs, marketing and student success professionals to determine and deliver appropriate actions necessary to maintain high levels of program quality and financial sustainability

  • Collaborate with Spur Start leadership to establish a data-driven approach to project assessment, refinement, and growth

  • Other related duties as appropriate
