Description of Work Unit

Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Located an hour north of the Denver metro area, Fort Collins is a vibrant community of approximately 157,000 residents that offers the convenience of a small town with all the amenities of a large city. Fort Collins is situated on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains with views of 14,000 foot peaks, and offers access to numerous cultural, recreational, and outdoor opportunities.

The Department of Construction Management serves one of the largest construction management programs in the country with approximately 800 undergraduate students, 20 graduate students, 21 faculty and 7 professional staff. The Department offers both a bachelors and master’s degrees in construction management. The Department works in collaboration with both the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and School of Education to offer interdisciplinary Ph.D. programs with construction management focus areas for students with diverse backgrounds and research interests. The undergraduate program is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education. Academic advising, and internship and career placement support is provided by professional staff. The department engages in teaching, scholarly, and outreach activities to promote the development of knowledge and skills related to construction management. The Department’s facilities include over 36,000 square feet in dedicated labs (physical testing and computer), classrooms, and offices to support its research, teaching, and service mission. Position Summary

Teach relevant undergraduate and graduate courses that prepare students to pursue a career in the construction or related industry; advise graduate students, work with student organizations and/or mentor student competition teams, develop and maintain an independent and nationally recognized research program that is supported by external funding, integrate relative research expertise into current and new academic courses, direct student research, and participate in service activity in support of the industry, university, and the department.

The Department seeks a new Tenure-Track Faculty member that will add to our existing teaching and research expertise that complements the current construction management undergraduate and graduate curriculum.

All faculty are expected to contribute to the Department’s diversity, equity, and inclusion practices to make the Department an inclusive environment for all students, staff, and faculty. Personal and professional commitment to diversity and inclusion as demonstrated by involvement in teaching, research, creative activity, service to the profession and/or diversity/inclusion activities. Required Job Qualifications

  • An earned Doctorate in construction-related field at the time of starting the tenure-track faculty appointment (August 16, 2025).

  • Potential to successfully teach university-level courses

  • Potential to successfully publish in academic proceedings and journals

  • Potential to establish an externally funded research program

  • Commitment to promoting a diverse, equitable, and inclusive academic culture

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Evidence of successful university-level teaching

  • Evidence of a publication record in academic proceedings and journals

  • Evidence of an externally funded research program

  • A minimum of three or more years of progressive, full-time, experience in the Architecture, Engineering and/or Construction ( AEC ) industry.

  • Evidence of research expertise in one or more of the following areas: construction productivity, automation and robotics in construction, artificial intelligence, instrumentation and sensors, digital transformation, smart buildings, modular and offsite construction, and DEIJ in construction.

  • The ability to teach in at least two of the following content areas:

  • Structural Systems in Construction

  • Soil Mechanics for Construction

  • Construction Materials and Methods

  • Construction Estimating, Scheduling, and Contracts

  • In addition to the above courses, candidates should consider what other courses in the construction management curriculum at Colorado State University that they are capable of teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate level.
