POSITION SUMMARY

The HVAC Mechanic reports to and receives assignments, instructions, and direction from the Lead HVAC Tech, HVAC or Site Supervisor, including, but not limited to:

• Reads and interprets instructions and documentation and plans work activities

• Moves materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work site

• Maintains, repairs, and replaces or installs a broad range of HVAC equipment and support systems for operation and maintenance activities

• Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up activities

• Services and repairs environmental-control systems using knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, structural layout, and troubleshooting

• Mounts compressor, condenser units, air handler using hand tools following blueprint, engineering specifications and manufacture recommendations

• Repairs and fabricates ductwork using sheet metal hand tools and shop fabrication equipment

• Measures, cuts and assembles PVC and copper tubing and fittings, including braze/soldering copper/copper, copper/brass, and copper/steel

• Connects blower motors (1/4-70hp), compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and connect control panels to power source

• Troubleshoots and replaces defective breaker controls, contactors, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed units using electrician’s hand tools

• Installs, repairs, replaces, maintains, troubleshoots, and services air conditioners, condensing units, air cooled chillers, walk in coolers/freezers, air handlers, gas/oil fired steam/hot water boilers, furnaces, RTU’s and MAU’s, from motorized lifts , ladders, catwalks and roofs in extreme hot and cold weather

• Works independently, must be self-motivated

• Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment

• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be a high school graduate or GED

• 4 years Journey-Level experience

• CFC certified; HVAC License preferred

• DDC Controls and Heavy Refrigeration experience needed

• Must be able to work weekends and holidays

• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

• For positions requiring use of a Company and/or Customer vehicle, must have a safe driving record within the past 36 months, as defined by Company policy.

RATE

Pay rate will be dependent upon certification level. HVAC Mechanic: $40.32 + $8.34 - $10.96 H&W.

Requirements & Skills:

High School Diploma or GED, Min. of 4 years Journey-Level experience. CFC certified. An HVAC License preferred. DDC Controls and Heavy Refrigeration experience needed. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must pass a criminal background check and drug test.
