Army Installation Management Command Fire Protection Inspector in Fort Bliss, Texas

For more information follow this link: https://acpol2.army.mil/chra_dodea/FF_2nd_SRC.pdf Responsibilities Conduct inspections of construction sites during various phases of construction and upon completion; recommends changes and additions to ensure compliance with the fire prevention/protection requirements Conduct physical inspections of large, complex, and highly fire prone post and range facilities including mission related facilities. Provide fire prevention training, lectures and demonstration during special events such as fire prevention week, spring cleanup and holiday events, etc. Review work requests involving alteration and extension of existing facilities; recommends changes and additions to ensure compliance with fire prevention requirements. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Performing fire inspections by detecting and eliminating potential fire hazards; Developing and implementing training in fire protection and prevention; AND Reviewing plans for construction and ensuring compliance with fire prevention regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Certification Requirements: To occupy this position, at the time of appointment the incumbent must possess and then continue to maintain the following certification levels: (Note: You must attach a copy of your certification for verification.) Fire Officer I Fire Inspector II Fire Instructor I Hazardous Materials Awareness Airport Firefighter Emergency Medical Technician - Basic You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Building Construction Oral Communication Preventative Maintenance Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information TERM Appointment: This position is a TERM Not to Exceed 3-years position. It is time-limited and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years. TERM Appointment with option for conversion (must be established prior to announcement opening): To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. Term employment is subject to a one year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
