Summary About the Position: Serve as an Electronics Technician with the Davidson Army Airfield Division. Provides comprehensive technical services on substantive functions and practices. Identifies, evaluates, and recommends appropriate solutions to resolve complex interrelated problems. Manages digital Air Traffic Control (ATC) equipment; performs on-site independent repair analysis, installation, evaluation, and maintains, evaluates, and procures complex electronic computer systems in the ATC field. Responsibilities Perform on-site independent repair analysis, installation, evaluation, and certification, in accordance with all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards, of a variety of complex electronic systems and sub-systems. Manage all of the latest digital ATC equipment available thru tests, inspections and repair of equipment to ensure operational effectiveness for air traffic control usage in the National Airspace System. Repair and replaces parts and components; tunes, adjusts, and aligns systems and subsystems; and repairs or replaces parts and individual components. Verify correct range, azimuth of radar data, video map, and data presentation; measures the radiated output of antenna and tuning systems; tests and inspects repaired equipment to ensure operational effectiveness for air traffic control. Maintain, some of the most complex electronic/computer systems in the Air Traffic Control (ATC) field, which often is research-grade, experimental, and prototype in nature. Analyze the performance of systems by way of periodic flight inspections, establishment and monitoring of ground checkpoints, and performance of recurring alignments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computers and Electronics Electrical Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
