QC Packaging Technician - Forsyth, MO

This is a full-time, hourly position 2nd shift.

SUMMARY:

Performs line inspections and quality control functions as assigned by the Quality Control Supervisor and/or Quality Control Manager to assure all products manufactured by Deerland Probiotics & Enzymes meet established standards for purity, composition, and quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Attendance and attention to detail are keys to performing the job.

  • Assists in policy and procedural compliance throughout the manufacturing process as related to established quality standards.

  • Checks all Packaging Work Orders for accuracy against the PFL’s and Shipper Labels.

  • Performs pre-operation line approval in packaging areas.

  • Receives in new labels.

  • Stages labels for Packaging and keeping label room inventory updated in the computer file.

  • Performs label reconciliation and yield calculations as required for all labels returned from packaging.

  • Checks filled containers according to SOP, to be sure that they are properly labeled, sealed, and contain the correct number of capsules/Tablets.

  • Performs any additional customer required quality control checks in packaging to assure compliance with established specifications.

  • Assists in maintaining and retaining samples of raw materials and finished goods in an orderly manner.

  • Performs environmental monitoring sampling.

  • Collection and storage of retain samples.

  • Assist Quality Control Supervisor in maintaining Quality Control Hold Log and physically maintain and manage the Q.C. Hold areas. This includes being responsible for all items that are put into or leave the hold areas and periodically inventorying the items that are awaiting dispositions. This includes updating and closing out files as needed.

  • Assist as needed in the monthly retest or sampling of materials.

  • Assist in equipment IQ/OQ completion.

  • Assist with investigations.

EQUIPMENT USED:

Proper use of PPE is required when working around any raw materials or components. Must be able to use the in-house computer system and applicable programming, as well as other basic office equipment such as the fax machine, photocopy machine, scanners, and printers.

Must be able to use a pallet jack and other similar tools.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Good inter-departmental communication skills, both written and oral, are necessary.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Statistical process control principals are applied. Prior knowledge helpful but not required.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to construct and interpret applicable procedures from written or oral communication.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Must be very detailed oriented. Knowledge of raw materials and computer experience is helpful but not necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required include close-up vision and color vision. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 250 pounds using a pallet jack or other similar tools.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The use of PPE is required if working in manufacturing areas.
