Sargent County Road Equipment Operator III - Full-Time

Are you looking for a full-time job? Do you like to work outdoors, keep our County Road and Bridges Safe? Sargent County is looking for excited, ambitious, and talented people to become a part of the Sargent County Team and Community.

Sargent County is looking to hire two Full-Time Road Equipment Operator III to provide a service to the Sargent County by operating a variety of equipment and maintaining all County Roads and Bridges. The position is a 40 hours per week with some weekend and holiday work. Starting wage negotiable and depending on experience. The position includes a Full Benefit Package. The Road Equipment Operator III will report to the Road Supervisor.

Position requires the following:

  • Must be 18 years old.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must possess a CDL (Commercial Driver's License)
  • Requires a high school education or GED equivalent.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening test.
  • Requires one year of experience in maintenance, mechanics, and general trade skills.
  • Able to physically operate a variety of equipment, motor grader, snowplow truck, backhoe, tractor, skid steer, etc.
  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs on equipment.
  • Order and post updated signs in the County.
  • Working in a team environment, multi-task, adjust to stressful situations, attention to detail, remain calm under urgent deadlines.
  • Attend Safety meetings and inspections.
  • Reviews Safety guidelines, adheres to policies and procedures when operating equipment.
  • Complete paperwork, log work completed (fuel usage, repair work done, etc.)
  • Utilize various tools (shovel, welding machine, torch, air compressor, maintenance tools).
  • Tasks involve demanding work, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling objects of moderate weight (20-25 pounds), to heavy physical work up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to read documents (maps, vehicle maintenance manuals, policy manuals, sign manuals).
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others, including your co-workers and community members to convey or exchange information.
  • Exposure to heat, cold, odors, toxic agents, chemicals, noise, smoke, vibration, wetness, humidity, dusts, machinery, and electrical currents.
  • Outdoor elements could cause heat stroke, hypothermia, hearing damage, serious injury, burns, allergic reactions, if safety precautions are not followed.
