Robert Half Collections Specialist in Forest Grove, Oregon

Description

We are currently seeking a diligent and experienced Collections Specialist for one of our clients. In this role, you will be responsible for the initiation and resolution of overdue debts, in a professional and reliable manner, whilst ensuring all company policies and procedures are adhered to.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor accounts to identify outstanding debts.

  • Investigate historical data for each debt or bill.

  • Find and contact clients to ask about their overdue payments.

  • Take actions to encourage timely debt payments.

  • Process payments and refunds.

  • Resolve billing and customer credit issues.

  • Update account status records and collection efforts.

  • Report on collection activity and accounts receivable status.

  • Negotiate payment plans with clients.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Collection Specialist or similar role.

  • Knowledge of billing procedures and collection techniques (e.g. skip tracing).

  • Familiarity with laws related to debt collection (e.g. FDCPA)

  • Proficient in MS Office and comfortable with database software.

  • Basic understanding of consumer credit principles.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills.

  • Keen attention to detail with the ability to identify errors or inconsistencies.

  • High school diploma; Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience using collections software.

  • Knowledge of the industry-specific collections process
