Position Description

The Production Planner is responsible for the materials PO’s and delivery tracking as well as planning production based on internal and external customer demand, meeting customer expectations, while maintaining and balancing pre-established safety stock levels and efficiency in the manufacturing plant. The Production Planner is also responsible for the creation of stock transfer orders (STO’s) of products shipped but not produced in the manufacturing facility.

Salary range: $68k - $85k (depending on experience and education)

Essential Functions:

  • Schedule Materials PO's/Releases following Finished Goods (FG) production schedule priorities, respecting Safety stocks and lead times.

  • Materials On the Road (OTR) tracking and on-hand daily commodity ordering reviews.

  • Manage run-downs of material stock due to graphic changes or discontinuations to the product portfolio.

  • FG Production Scheduling aligned to Sales and Operations Plan (S&OP), minimum order requirements.

  • Release process orders to the manufacturing floor based on the schedule.

  • Review changes in demand and makes appropriate adjustments to order quantities in order to support production requirements.

  • Root cause analysis for scheduling or material variances.

  • Input to production run rates/downtime (feeding SAP and S&OP process).

  • Initiate and track Destruction of Material Requests (DOMR) to plants and Suppliers for obsolete materials.

  • Track customer bill backs for DOMR’d materials when appropriate.

  • Review SAP master data (MRP settings) from an analytical perspective and suggest workable changes for efficiencies.

  • Initiate requests to change or delist materials and bill of materials to data administration team. Track through completion.

  • Assist with coordination of ACE projects to completion (Supply Chain step and MRP settings).

  • Lead production meetings from a planning perspective to discuss the daily and weekly production schedule and discuss crewing calendar, capacity and any areas that need to be resolved to accomplish the production schedule.

  • Works on Continuous improvement projects and cross-functional teams to help improve efficiencies of the plant and the planning processes.

  • Provide back up for secondary manufacturing facility or lines.

  • Stock Transfer Orders (STO’s).

  • Fill rate, production attainment, aged, DOS, safety stock, FG transfers

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business or related field required plus five (5) years of experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.

  • Prior experience in food/ beverage manufacturing, sourcing or supply chain is highly desirable.

  • Three (3) plus years of SAP experience is preferred.

  • APICs Certified is a plus.

  • Knowledge of standard operating procedures

  • Commit to ongoing personal and professional development, including participation in training and educational programs as may be offered from time to time

  • Working knowledge of Planning tools and ERP systems

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and SAP.
