Aerotek Machine Operator in FLORHAM PARK, New Jersey

Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Description

Operate and run cable manufacturing equipment. Monitor the running and quality of the cable output. Once fully trained, you will operate 1-2 cells independently. You will receive an order sheet that specifies the cable and material, set up everything, and input the order specifications into a computer. Basic editing of pre-written programs is required. Additionally, you will troubleshoot equipment during operations or breakdowns and constantly refill the material coating the cables.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor cable manufacturing equipment.

  • Ensure the quality of the cable output.

  • Operate 1-2 cells independently once fully trained.

  • Set up machines according to order specifications and input details into a computer.

  • Troubleshoot equipment during operations and breakdowns.

  • Refill the material coating the cables as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Machine operation

  • Power tool usage

  • Ability to operate a forklift (or willingness to become certified)

  • Basic Windows operating skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals

  • Ability to calculate percentages and plot data on graphs

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma

  • 1-3 years of experience and/or training in a process-focused manufacturing center

  • Experience with lean/Six Sigma methodologies

  • Experience interpreting specification sheets and job instructions

  • Experience with SAP database software is preferred

Work Environment

Training on 1st Shift: 6am-2pm

Looking for someone who will move to 2nd Shift: 2pm-10pm or 3rd Shift: 10pm-6am.

Paid lunch breaks, generally taken on the production floor. This is not an air-conditioned facility and can get very warm in the summer. The work environment is fast-paced manufacturing.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of FLORHAM PARK, New Jersey.

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $27.00
