Job Responsibilities:

This position will provide product support for a variety of elevator components and mechanical systems. The position will play a crucial role in maintaining product integrity, evaluating opportunities, and integrating new component designs into existing systems, while working to meet agreed upon cost and schedule commitments.

Typical responsibilities include product life cycle maintenance, cost reduction projects, and product improvements. Responsibilities will also include analyzing, designing, and modifying elevator components and complete elevator systems.

The candidate should be able to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical assembly drawings, and sometimes building plans in order to analyze complex problems and identify root cause issues and develop innovative solutions. The ability to work across engineering disciplines with electrical engineers, software engineers, and test engineers is required.

The candidate must be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills and be able to collaborate effectively working on cross-functional teams in order to work closely with manufacturing operations, supply management, contract logistics, finance, and field support to ensure designs are compatible with requirements from across the organization.

Problems and issues faced are general, and may require understanding of broader set of issues.

Problems may span a range of issues or work areas and are typically solved through exercise of discretion and / or judgment, drawing from prior experiences, with analysis of the issue.

Responsible for making minor changes or enhancements in systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of work area.

Communication & Influence:

Communicates with parties within and outside of own team.

Explains policies, practices and procedures of the work area to others within the organization, influencing decision-makers with recommended courses of action.

Experience/Qualifications

MS degree with 2+ years’ experience

BS degree with 3+ years’ experience

Preferred Skills:

  • Sound mechanical engineering background (mechanical and system modeling and design, component modeling and design)

  • Creo / Pro Engineer

  • Mechanical structural analysis with Ansys or other FEA Software

  • Design documentation with Mathcad

  • Strong communications and leadership ability

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software

  • Hands-on testing or manufacturing experience preferred but not required
