McLaren Health Care Senior Director of Operations - Emergency Medicine - McLaren Careers in Flint, Michigan

Partners with McLaren Medical Group (MMG) leadership and McLaren’s enterprise-wide hospital CEOs around Emergency Medicine (EM) programmatic strategies and implementation of key tactics, departmental alignment with other key growth strategies optimizing patient access and throughput.

Provides leadership and direction and is responsible for the efficiency of Emergency Medicine operations delivered by MMG providers across multiple facilities.

Keen focus on the implementation of MMG’s strategic plan, including: the identification of EM provider need, recruitment oversight, onboarding, and optimization of provider scheduling activities across sites; furthering fiscal performance of the EM services through revenue cycle and broad financial acumen; a focus on maximizing patient satisfaction, employee engagement, and the overall alignment of EM services with applicable

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Leads in development and implementation of the enterprise and departmental business strategy.

  2. Develops and implements strategy which leads to improvement in EM market share consistent with McLaren’s mission and core values.

  3. Uses data to analyze market dynamics, trends and competition and implements strategies to meet market demand.

  4. Effectively advises CEO and COO in the development and execution of short- and long-term strategies.

  5. Understands all operational components necessary to implement a new or expand a current department, including but not limited to capital, equipment, people, education, quality metrics and costs.

Required:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration or related field.Must complete Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration or related field within 18 months of starting position.

  2. Minimum 5 years in a progressive management position with a focus on program development, provider relations, and marketing.

  3. Minimum of 3 years of Director experience in hospital department operations and physician-hospital practice integration and applicable program development.

  4. Minimum of 3 years of experience in specific department (Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, Medical/Surgical or Critical Access) clinical operations.

  5. Travel approximately 60 percent to various McLaren hospitals and EM sites.

  6. Current Michigan driver’s license and proof of valid automobile insurance.

  7. Insurable under McLaren’s insurance program

  8. Must possess and consistently use excellent communication skills and teamwork problem-solving skills in order to develop relationships with regional providers.

Preferred:

  1. Experience in strategic planning, initiative/tactic design and implementation, operational improvement activities, provider resourcing and contracting, revenue cycle and fiscal analyses, and leading hospital-based (EM) clinical operations.
