Launch Support Specialists Purchasing Manager in Flint, Michigan

Summary

Responsible for the development and deployment of Supply Chain strategies, Scheduling and Purchase Estimating for North America.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Collaborate with functional leaders and internal stakeholders to drive alignment in supply planning and sourcing priorities for programs
  •   Accountable for overseeing tactical supply planning/execution and supplier network management.
  • Collaborate with internal and external functional leaders to oversee design and implementation of programs and initiatives.
  • Manages and oversees the purchasing team. Provides continuous coaching and personnel reviews for the team to ensure continuous development of the purchasing team for team member growth and promote quality.
  • Develops and implements departmental processes to continuously improve the department's quality and timing.
  • Responsible for overseeing the Sourcing Strategy for Direct, Indirect and Services.
  • Sets department and personal goals that can be benchmarked through KPI's with year over year improvements.
  • Seeks out and capitalizes on strategic opportunities that yield significant advantages for company to improve on quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Develops and builds current and new vendor relationships to improve supplier deliveries, quality and cost. Create supplier score cards to rate each supplier on their performance.
  • Researches and finds new vendors to ensure an improved supply chain base for company
  • Negotiates prices and contracts with suppliers.
  • Schedules deliveries and ensures on time delivery of products from suppliers.
  • Addresses quality or on time issues with suppliers using a corrective action process.
  • Maintains financial records of past orders, and reviews these orders for cost, delivery, and vendor performance.
  • Attends kick off meeting, buy offs, and other job-oriented conferences to stay up to date on the latest changes to the jobs, products, and proposals.
  • Organizes departmental meeting to communicate job structures, budgets, and timing.
  • Understands and follows safety & environmental regulations and identifies safety/environmental concerns.
  • Adheres to the Quality Systems and participates in continuous improvement.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school; or 10 to 15 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
