McLaren Health Care Customer Service Representative - McLaren Careers in Flint, Michigan

Position Summary:

Responsible for assisting provider offices with laboratory related questions e.g. specimen requirements, specimen stability, and productivity schedule, resolving specimen problems and documenting resolutions accurately in the laboratory information system (LIS) and the risk management system, obtaining add on orders from providers and adding on tests, notifying providers of critical values and making courtesy calls to provider offices in a timely manner providing laboratory reports to providers as needed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Answers phone calls, provides information or refers phone calls as needed

  2. Resolves specimen problems and documents appropriately in the LIS and McLaren Safety First system.

  3. Participates and assists with investigations for issues entered into the electronic issue tracking system

  4. Runs McLaren Safety First reports and collates data

  5. Provides data to appropriate managers for inclusion in performance improvement reports

  6. Sets up specimens for stability as needed

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 1 year previous clerical experience to include public contact, data entry, and telephone customer service.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Formal training in data entry and telephone techniques.

  • Previous experience working in a clinical laboratory.
