Flint Cultural Center Corporation Custodial Supervisor in Flint, Michigan

This position supervises the custodial operations at the Sloan Museum of Discovery, Longway Planetarium, Flint Public Library, Walker Place, and Voices for Children locations.  The primary work schedule will be Sunday -- Thursday; 3:00pm -- 11:00pm.  The position will require occasional Fridays and Saturdays and the hours may vary depending on facility needs and events.  Starting Pay Range - $17.00 - $21.00/hr based on experience

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Supervisor manages the day-to-day custodial operations of designated locations on the Flint Cultural Center campus. This position provides direct leadership for approximately 15-17 custodians and a work environment that brings a high level of energy, team building attitude, environmental awareness, customer service, and safety to the team while ensuring compliance with Flint Cultural Center Corporation's and MIOSHA standards and procedures. The Custodial Supervisor is also responsible for training new employees in proper cleaning procedures for the use of manually operated tools, electrically-powered machines, cleaning compounds and chemicals.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supervise and schedule custodial team's daily, cyclical, and training activities according to FCCC's cleaning process and procedures:
  • Daily cleaning of specific area(s)
  • Scheduling of carpet cleaning, floor waxing and other cyclical cleaning.
  • Assist with setting up areas for activities as needed.
  • Inspect areas cleaned by others and evaluate what, if any, opportunities exist for improvement.
  • Training custodial staff in acceptable cleaning and safety procedures.
  • Ensure that custodial services meet the needs of the institutions, FCCC and established custodial guidelines by scheduling work activities and adjusting workloads to compensate for scheduled and unscheduled absences, changing priorities and special custodial projects.
  • Input schedules and monitor timecards in electronic timekeeping system to include:
  • Approval of time off requests
  • Approval of hours, fixing missed punches when needed.
  • Ensure employees are clocking in and out in the correct facility.
  • Advises and enforces FCCC's rules and policies regarding employee conduct, issues verbal and written reprimands for violations and recommends progressive disciplinary action to the Facilities Manager as appropriate.
  • Collaborates and communicates with the building managers to ensure custodial service expectations are met.
  • Must cover unstaffed shifts if no other custodian is available.
  • Inform Facilities Manager of any unsafe or broken building hardware and equipment needed for the job.
  • Assist with janitorial supply deliveries.
  • Evaluate inventory needs and submit janitorial supply orders to Facilities Manager.
  • Update and maintain MSD sheets.
