ASSISTANT PROSECUTING ATTORNEY TRAINEE
SALARY: $19.6819 Hourly ($40,938)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited law school.
*GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: *Performs a variety of legal tasks in Probate, District and Circuit Courts which includes legal research, representation of the County in legal proceedings and court cases; develops legal opinions; works under supervision; performs related duties as required.
STATEMENT OF TASKS:
- Prepares and tries cases in Probate, District and Circuit Courts;
- Interviews complainants and issues orders for warrants in criminal cases;
- Furnishes information on inquiries and complaints submitted to the office of the Prosecuting Attorney;
- Prepares and follows up on extradition cases;
- Takes statements from suspects and participates in various hearings when summoned by State, City or County officials;
- Handles hearings in Probate Court for economically disadvantaged people, hears commitments and juvenile cases.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of modern principles and practices of law;
- Ability to analyze legal problems and present findings in an orderly manner;
- Ability to become proficient in the practice of law;

ASSOCIATE ASSISTANT PROSECUTING ATTORNEY
Starting Pay: $40.8922 Hourly ($85,056) After 1st Year: $43.1484 Hourly ($89,749)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited law school and a member of the State Bar of Michigan in good standing; -AND- One (1) of the following: Judicial clerkship experience, Internship/Externship experience, Law School Clinic Experience or Moot Court Team Experience.
*GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: *Performs a wide variety of legal tasks in Circuit (Criminal and Family Court) and District Court with occasional Probate Court Appearances.
STATEMENT OF TASKS:
Appears at arraignments, pretrials, probable cause conferences, preliminary examinations, preliminary hearings, review hearings, dispositional hearings and misdemeanor sentence hearings;
Represents the People in traffic enforcement matters before the District Court;
