The Mechanical Engineer will be tasked with planning and designing various metal components for mechanical equipment and machinery and taking the designs through the full production cycle. The ideal candidate should be well-versed in automated computer-assisted design software, with a hunger to learn in technology spaces which they may have not been exposed to, as well as be open to evolve our technology. Given the complex nature of the products, there will be significant hands-on training and interaction with various Magna-Power teams.
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for:
Preparing preliminary and detailed design drawings using AutoCAD and Inventor, working with prototype engineers and machinists for fabrication, as required.
Designing and assembling jigs and prototype fixtures to support various manufacturing operations.
Designing metal and insulation components to be used in the company’s wide range of products.
Taking concepts for manufacturing improvements through the prototyping and production phases.
Working with various vendors and suppliers on component investigations and resolution.
Support manufacturing personnel with various production programs.
Developing and designing fixtures and assemblies for robotic automation.
Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, schematics and computer-generated reports.
Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principals.
Producing specifications for products and chooses raw materials and components to be used in production.
Building models and prototypes of the various products and testing the design.
Managing tickets and projects in JIRA.
Navigating through xTuple to review BOMs, schematics and perform necessary tasks as needed.
Developing an understanding of the company, products, industry and customer base.
The education and experience for this position includes:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university is required
Minimum of three years version control, Inventor, Solidworks, and AutoCAD drafting experience required
Five years of related design experience required, industrial experience preferred
ERP software and BOM concepts experience
SVN drawing repository
Quality inspection

Demonstrated work experience in metal fabrication

Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with short deadlines
