The Department of Mathematics and Statistics has 43 permanent faculty and offers bachelors\' degrees in mathematics, secondary mathematics education, and data science; and masters\' degrees in mathematics, mathematics education, and statistics, as well as various undergraduate minors and graduate certificates. About the Position
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Northern Arizona University (NAU) seeks a dynamic and innovative teacher for a position as a lecturer beginning August 19, 2024. The successful applicant will further NAU\'s commitment to promoting student success in teaching mathematics courses across campus. This is a 9-month non-tenure track position.
Responsibilities Include:
- Teaching entry-level undergraduate mathematics courses.
- Engaging in professional development and/or scholarly activity.
- Faculty service.
This position is an on-site position which requires the incumbent to complete their work primarily at an NAU site, campus, or facility with or without accommodation. Opportunities for remote work are rare.
Minimum Qualifications
- Teaching experience at the college level.
- A Master\'s degree in mathematics [or in a closely related field] expected by August 19, 2024.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completed Master\'s degree at the time of application.
- A record of teaching at the college level that includes being the instructor of record for at least two different mathematics courses.
- Ability to teach a wide variety of courses.
- Interest or experience in advancing curricular excellence through: improving pedagogy; developing courses or curriculum; or otherwise engaging the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Compensation & Benefits
Anticipated salary is \$60,000.
This is a Faculty (F C) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP); sick leave accruals and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified family members. Faculty are hired on a contract basis, renewable according to terms of the Conditions of Faculty Service{target="blank"}. Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU\'s BCBS Plan). Employees will have 31 days from date of hire to enroll in benefits, and their benefits will then be effective the first day of the pay period following their completed enrollment.
