Special Information

  • This position is an on-site position which requires the incumbent to complete their work primarily at the Flagstaff Mountain campus with or without accommodation. Opportunities for remote work are rare.
  • This position requires occasional evening and weekend work, particularly during the beginning of the semester.

Job Description

This position will support the Office of Leadership & Engagement by leading efforts to support and advise Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL). The position will provide support for and oversight of Northern Arizona University fraternity and sorority programs and development with a special emphasis on academic achievement, diversity, social responsibility, and values-based leadership, which contributes to the development, enrichment, and assessment of the University\'s fraternity and sorority life community. As a member of the Leadership & Engagement team, the FSL Coordinator Sr. will provide general support for student organizations, including event approvals, website and social media management, and program planning.

Additionally, the position will be supervising, onboarding and supporting the front desk student worker staff for the Office of Leadership and Engagement and Dean of Students.

General FSL Support - 75%

  • Serve as a support system and adviser to our Fraternity and Sorority Life community at NAU.
  • Serve as the liaison to national organizations that fall under the assigned council including communications, relationships building and expansion efforts.
  • Facilitate effective recruitment processes that meet community needs and goals while maintaining alignment with university and council guidelines.
  • Work with Fraternity and Sorority Life staff and students to provide cross council communication and support for events, philanthropies, and recruitment.
  • Oversees risk management policies and compliance requirements.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a system to accurately gather chapter information including new members, officers, graduating members, etc.
  • Assist in the development of trainings for newly elected officers and new member education and the Greek Summit.
  • Manage Fraternity and Sorority Life social media accounts and aid in development of marketing materials.
  • Assist with updating and maintenance of the Fraternity and Sorority Life website.
  • Develop, administer, and evaluate programs and trainings for students that promote an understanding of and appreciation for the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), directly in line with the department mission and the division of Student Affairs. Collaborate with the Office of Inclusion and support Office of Leadership & Engagement value of inclusion.
  • Build relationships and maintain support with chapter advisors and alumni through the university and nationally.
  • Facilitate relationships with campus partners including Community Relations, Health Promotions, Office of Inclusion, Campus Recreation and more.
  • Assist wi h the event registration request process including training new chapter leadership.
  • Assist with training staff in Fraternity and Sorority Life specific policy, procedures, and best practices.
  • Ensure chapter compliance/accountability with L&E policies and procedures include event requests, organizational conduct, reregistration requirements (SOAR), etc.

Supervision - 15%

  • Supervise Office of Leadership and Engagement and Dean of Student front desk student workers.
  • Oversees and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the student support staff, including hiring and training; scheduling and prioritizing work assignments; and implementation of effective operating policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Coordinates a structured feedback process regarding student worker performance and professional development.

Other - 10%

Represent and assist Fraternity and Sorority Life and the Office of Leadership and Engagement at departmental and University wide events including Club Fairs, Leadership Programs, Flannels and Flapjacks.

Participate in departmental and campus-wide committees as appropriate; committee involvement may include Campus Life Communications Team, Alcohol and Other Drug, Sexual Assault and Relationship Violence Task Force, and Neighborhood Partnership Coalition.
