About the Department/College

The NAU Department of Psychological Sciences emphasizes the scientific study of mind, brain, and behavior and seeks to advance evidence-based knowledge through high quality teaching, research, and service. The undergraduate major offers students a balanced curriculum in social/personality, developmental/clinical, and cognitive/neuroscience areas. The Department has over 30 full-time faculty members with expertise in many psychological science sub disciplines. Our faculty are dedicated to the mentoring of students and to offering opportunities for experiential learning, such as research and fieldwork experience. Our research active faculty provide students with opportunities for basic and applied, laboratory and field research. Many of our faculty have international teaching and research experience and are supportive of and lead study abroad experiences.

Psychological Sciences is housed in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, which is a community of change-makers. We support the strengths of students, staff, and faculty, and collaborate with communities through innovative teaching, scholarship and creative work, public engagement, and practice. About the Position

The Department of Psychological Sciences{target="_blank"} at Northern Arizona University invites applicati ns for one or more non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor positions on NAU\'s mountain campus in Flagstaff, area of disciplinary expertise open. We are particularly interested in candidates with developmental expertise across the lifespan, and experience teaching Introduction to Psychology. The anticipated start date is August 2024. The teaching load is four courses per semester (4-4 or 80% teaching load).

We seek a colleague to teach primarily at the undergraduate level, including both lower and upper division courses in their area of expertise. Possible course assignments include those related to Introduction to Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Research Methods, Social Psychology, Positive Psychology, Health Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Community Psychology and Cognitive Psychology. The remainder of faculty workload can be devoted to a combination of service and/or research-related activity. Positions are expected to be continuing with yearly renewals and have the potential for promotion. Renewal is contingent upon successful completion of a probationary year, effective performance, continued funding, and department needs.
