Here in the Thermo Fisher One Lambda Clinical Lab at Fishers, IN, we are working towards bringing molecular technologies from bench-to-bedside and improving patient diagnostics and, are looking for a Laboratory Support Specialist.

Discover Impactful Work:

The Laboratory Support Specialist performs duties and training to acquire the skills required for sample and standard handling in support of the laboratory. They provide support to laboratory staff and performs administrative tasks for the Clinical Laboratory. They follow SOPs, applicable client procedures, and fulfills laboratory requests with modest direct supervision. Ability to focus attention to details is critical for this role.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Performs a variety of simple inventory tracking procedures (receipt, check-in, login, labeling, inventory, transport, check-out, etc.) and administrative tasks in support of laboratory operations.

  • Communicates status of tasks to supervisor and/or appropriate laboratory staff.

  • Trains on SOPs, regulatory guidelines, and storage requirements.

  • Supports response to environmental unit alarms and may participate in on-call responsibilities.

  • Performs daily work assignments accurately, timely and in a safe manner.

  • Accessions samples, enters patient information into LIMS, and organizes patient insurance paperwork.

  • Contacts clients regarding missing information or rejected specimens.

  • Collaborates with lab staff to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, and acceptable substitutions.

  • Prepares and processes quotes and purchase orders for materials, supplies, and equipment.

  • Drafts, explains, and implements procedures for purchasing, inventory, and accessioning.

  • May perform a portfolio of other services including: inventory management, stock rotation, cycle counts, shipping, receiving, and other functions according to service level requirements.

Education

  • High School Diploma Required.

Experience

  • 2+ years’ experience in purchasing, inventory management, or clinical laboratory administration.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Coupa, SAP, Sciquest, or Ariba (preferred)

  • Excel data analysis with pivot tables (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • ·Ability to read, write and speak English

  • ·Display a high level of confidentiality

  • ·Previous experience in laboratory setting(s) preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Works at customer location, in office environment to include cubicles, laboratories, and/or shipping/receiving docks.

  • Extensive walking/standing for 70-80% of the day.

  • Ability to lift, push and pull 30-40 pounds consistently and lift 50 pounds and use material handling equipment such as push carts and pallet jacks.
