A crop specialist will work to grow market share, improve efficiency, help achieve the cooperative's mission and goals, and ensure outstanding customer service. This position requires a deep understanding of all areas of agronomy - including Crop Nutrients, Chemicals, Seed and Precision as well as strength in intrapersonal communication and sales techniques. Essential Functions of the Job: The Crop Specialist needs to have a background, experience and understanding of all agronomy products and services, including CN, CPP, seed, precision ag, scouting and other technology and services that can bring value to customers and to Legacy. Crop Specialist is expected to gain an understanding of and execute ability to perform all agronomy plant operations and services necessary to meet goals and objectives, respond to after hour calls from customers, and maintain aptitude in retail sales and knowledge of programs Legacy and suppliers have in place. Crop Specialist will maintain an attitude that promotes team work within the cooperative and a favorable image of the Legacy. The Crop Specialist will take an active role in Intensive Crop Management Program, research test plots, and the LFC Agronomy Research Farm to help provide up to date information to their customers. Crop Specialist will learn all supported seed products, crop protection products, seed treatment products, as well as corresponding seed and CPP programs offered by the cooperative. Crop Specialist will work towards attaining a CCA (Certified Crop Advisor) license to continue to build their own knowledge, skills, and value to our customers. The Crop Specialist will attend and participate in training, education, and new technology opportunities that will allow him/her to be a professional consultant that adds value for our customer. The Crop Specialist will participate in yearly goal setting and follow up sessions and agree to try to reach Crop Specialist expectations established by the Agronomy Sales Manager.
