Description

In this role, the Tax Accountant is accountable for the Company’s compliance and reporting requirements related to sales and use taxes and property taxes.
Key Responsibilities
Complete monthly and annual tax filings including sales and use tax, coal conversion, highway use tax, rail car tax and other miscellaneous taxes.
Interpret existing sales and use tax laws and advise internal resources on taxability.
Complete annual property tax filing process for all three jurisdictions OTP operates in.
Maintain property tax software (PowerTax) system and integrity of information flowing into the system.
Assist with other sales and property tax projects as assigned including reverse sales tax reviews and audits.
Qualifications
Associate or bachelor’s degree with emphasis in accounting preferred.
Familiarity with sales tax laws and regulations.
Experience working with invoicing and determining sales tax applicability is preferred.
Efficient, comprehensive learner, who is coachable and works well independently and in a team environment.
Successful candidate will be deadline driven and able to balance multiple priorities at a given time.
