Job Title: Equipment Mechanic

Job Description

Inspect, diagnose, repair, and re-condition a variety of different equipment for customers, including construction machinery such as boom lifts, aerial lifts, and rail trucks.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, and re-condition various types of equipment.

  • Work on different construction machinery such as boom lifts, aerial lifts, and rail trucks.

  • Disassemble units for diagnosis and/or repair.

  • Devise solutions for unit failures through examination of equipment, specification sheets, and manuals.

  • Clean and degrease parts using appropriate chemicals and cleaning devices.

  • Recondition and/or replace damaged parts and reassemble units using appropriate manuals and schematics.

Essential Skills

  • High mechanical aptitude.

  • Troubleshooting and diagnosis skills.

  • Knowledge of basic hydraulic principles.

  • Knowledge of DC current and electronic fundamentals.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of failure analysis and the use of diagnostic equipment and instrumentation.

  • Ability to read and understand assembly manuals, drawings, and schematics.

  • Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with co-workers, vendors, and customers.

  • Good physical condition with the ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for 8 consecutive hours.

  • Dexterity and agility sufficient for climbing around equipment, repairing equipment, and driving vehicles with clutch transmission.

  • Strong customer service orientation with a demonstrated sense of urgency.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.

  • Experience in troubleshooting, mechanical repairs, diesel engines, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
