Description/Job Summary
Operates track or rubber tire excavator with mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop to lift and move bulk materials performing the following duties.
Responsibilities/Duties
Must be willing to travel if required.
Starts engine and moves machine into working or storage position, steering by pushing and pulling levers and/or toggle switches and press pedals that control forward and backward motion of machine.
Moves levers and or toggle switches and press pedals (often in response to hand signals)to rotate machine on chassis, raise and lower boom, and extend/retract/curl bucket.
Digs to line and grade.
Utilizes trench box, sloping, sheeting and/or shoring in excavations over five feet in depth.
Inspects equipment for defective parts and notifies supervisor of defects or malfunctions - makes adjustments and minor repairs.
May assist mechanic in repairing equipment.
Performs routine maintenance such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
When not operating, servicing or repairing equipment, may assist in other operations as designated by supervisor.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
