Summary of Job Duties:

This Facility Equipment Engineer will be primarily responsible for the operation, maintenance, monitoring, evaluation, and procurement and of new equipment. Duties will also include interaction with manufacturing/repair vendors and eventual surplusing of various semiconductor fab equipment (if needed). The position will make sure that the equipment functions in a fashion consistent with the various fabrication processes. The position will assist with the integration of those processes into the various MUSiC Fab equipment at the University of Arkansas and must work across multiple process modules including but not limited to, photolithography, thin film deposition, oxidation, activation, testing, wet process, epitaxial growth, and ion implantation. Initially, processing will be done in the temporary MUSiC fab, and these processes will be transferred to the tools in the permanent MUSiC fab. This position will support the research intended to develop low volume R&D prototyping for purposes of advancing the state of the art as well as being compatible with the needs of industrial advancement in the field. This position will answer directly to the MUSiC Fabrication Director.

Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. This position reports primarily on an 8:00AM 5:00PM, Monday through Friday schedule. However, additional hours may be required. Some travel (example travel to tool manufacturing site for tool evaluation or training) may also be required.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience in semiconductor processes in a semiconductor industry or academic environment

  • U.S. Citizenship required

  • At least one year experience working with high voltage equipment

  • At least one year experience working with compressed gases and knowledge of compressed gas safety

    • At least one year experience with lockout/tagout procedures

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • At least 10 years of industry or academic experience as an equipment engineer in a semiconductor or similar fabrication

    • Experience with multi-disciplinary responsibilities in areas such as process integration and process development engineering

    • Experience with equipment maintenance and tools; ensuring tools and processes are qualified when in production mode

      This position is renewable annually based on continued need for the position, availability of funding, and satisfactory job performance.
