Scope of Work

Under minimal direction/supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, performs a wide range of direct and indirect patient care activities. The patient care coordinator serves as the liaison between the Breast Program, Mammography Centers, Primary Care Physicians, Third-party Payers and the Patient. Follows Beaumont philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care at all times.Uses a systematic approach, analyzes issues, forecast trends and supporting data to determine the learning needs of individuals, service lines, and organizations. Using data gathered; validates, prioritizes and documents evidence of professional practice gaps and outcomes in a manner that facilitates the educational planning process.

  • Works in collaboration with management to ensure Hospital goals and objectives are met. As appropriate, contributes to community activities sponsored by the Breast Care Center. Participates in educational programs related to patient/community and clinical operations.

  • Duties include but not limited to the coordination of effective patient flow through the diagnostic process from the coordination of the biopsy schedule, insurance approvals, scheduling the diagnostic procedures, data collection, and obtaining physician scripts.

  • Works as an active team member and effective communicator. Demonstrate excellent customer focus and service through effective written and verbal communication skills with the patient and team members intra and interdepartmentally.

  • Ensures and enhances facilities safety and regulatory standards by complying with all applicable laws, regulations and accrediting agencies. Follows Beaumont Health policies.

  • Demonstrates breast care knowledge and expertise for quality patient care and is a resource for the department for the organization by navigating patients through abnormal mammogram diagnosis to treatment initiation.

  • Provide in-service and training to staff and new hires.

  • Works independently and has excellent organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Required Graduate of Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) Accredited Radiography Program.

  • Preferred Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Diploma, A.D.N., B.S.N., M.S.N., DNP/PhD – if not minimum BSN prepared, RN must enroll in an accredited BSN program within one (1) year of licensure date and complete within the next four (4) years. This is effective September 1, 2017.

  • Senior Radiologic Technologist minimum 6 years above Radiologic Technologist level with a minimum 5 years’ mammography experience. Required

  • RN with 2 to 3 years in a clinical or office setting required. Breast health experience. Preferred

  • CRT-Radiologic Technologist Registration - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Upon Hire required

  • Mammography (M) - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Upon Hire required Or

  • Registered Nurse (RN) - State of Michigan Upon Hire required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire required
